The Green People
They do not have roots as deep as trees. They do not have the hardness of stones. They live fast, bloom, die, are reborn — and they do all of this with a generosity that puts every other living being to shame.
A plant does not hoard what it has. It offers. The nectar for the bees. The shade for the soil. The root for the fungi. The leaf for the wind. And when it dies, it surrenders its own body back to the earth so that other lives may begin.
Many indigenous traditions recognize plants as people — the Green People. Beings with consciousness, with spirit, with teachings that can only be received by those who stop long enough to listen.
